CAPARICA.... HEAVENS' DOOR

SURFERS'S  PLAYGROUND....

- Love at first sight....if you ever come here, you will never forget it....

- Surfing is the local sport for all ages and Caparica has the ideal conditions for its practise..

- With 20 kilometres of sand, sea and sky, Costa da Caparica is Europe’s largest beach and certainly
one of the best in Europe and a true Paradise in Lisbon south bank.
- Originally a small fishing village, Caparica is now a lovely town with modern residential areas, across the river over the bridge,  with  blue sea and clear sky more than 300 days of sunshine during the year,  on average,  in fact Lisbons' nautical playground to swim, surf, sunbathe, jogging and enjoy the lively atmosphere of bars and restaurants that stretch all along the seafront.
- Popular and lively in the summer, even at night when most bars stay open until late with music and dancing.
-Visit the exotic local market, mingle with the local residents, relax in the local cafes and traditional restaurants.
- Don’t think that the beach is just somewhere you go in the summer.
- After all surfers do surf in all seasons.   On sunny winter days - and Portugal has lots of these - you can remind yourself of the pleasures of the summer season, strolling along the promenade, paddling in the sea and breathing in the fresh sea breeze.
- A wide promenade along the beach, about a mile long is ideal to jog, walk the dog, cycle, (no cars allowed), watch the waves....
- In fact,if you plan to visit Portugal again, it would be wise to stay here and we can help you in this, finding confortable accomodation in a private apartment or a cosy hotel within 200 mts of the beach.
Lisbon is only 20 minutes away accross the bridge by bus.  Just keep in touch by mail.

Further below you will notice that in the car tours to Caparica, we included a detour to PALMELA, a fascinating village with a fairly tale castle surrounded by a region famous for its unique wine and liquor.   You cannot miss the wine samples and the stunning view from the castle.
It was a moors'castle in the old days by they are gone now and the place is quite safe now.

WISH TOU A GOOD TIME.

CAR  LEISURE  CAPARICA  TOUR

DONT'T FORGET YOUR CAMERA
Picking you at your place around 02.00 pm, drive to Cais de Sodre, cross the Tagus by ferry boat from which you enjoy a river view of Lisbon, only a 20 minutes voyage, through Cacilhas and
direct to Christ's Monument for an extraordinary panoramic view of Lisboa.   From here to Palmela Castle, quite worth a visit, for a wine and liquor tasting (we pay them).

This tour, as you will have noticed, includes a visit to this castle at Palmela.   It was once a Moors Castle, extraordinary fortress strategically positioned  with fascinating view over the surrounding country side.   We managed somehow (not too easily though)  to get rid of the moors and is quite safe for you to visit the place nowadays.    No longer necessary to fight the moors the locals decided to
plant vines and produce wine, delicious in fact, which you will be invited to try when you visit the
village.

Now, this is a crucial and decisive point of your tour, because we will present you with 2 choices 1) drive to beautiful Arrabida beach (a real God's gift) with a stop in Azeitao to try the  unique cakes they sell in small unsuspecting shops there, you can hardly notice them if you are not familiar with the place, or choice 2) skip Azeitao and Arrabida (it s a pity really...) but drive straight to Caparica, in which case you'll have more time to explore this lovely place.

Either way you will enjoy Caparica by sunset.

Should come back to Lisbon about 08.00 this time accross the bridge but should you as a group wish or decide to have a special meal in one of the best restaurants in Caparica, by the beach, the place and meal suggested or organised by us, it will involve an extra expense of 40 e per person, for a unique gourmet experience you will never forget, coming back to Lisbon after that, no matter the hour.
If you still have some enery available we would then suggest a short night stroll by the river in Torre de Belem, the perfect ending for a perfect day.

Duration: 6 to 8 or 9 hours, depends a lot on you but we usually come back the same day.

With dinner in Caparica - an extra 40 e  You will not just be paying for the meal but also for our gourmet expertise and good taste, selecting the best places, delicacies and wines.

So- basic cost - 60 E
With evening gourmet dinner - 100 E (should not miss this  really).

Entrance fee to Christ Monument excluded, same for icecream, cakes and pastries and coffee in Azeitão depending on our mood, drinks in Palmela are a pleasure for us to offer.
